Update! 7.23.2009

I've had a lot more time with the Mundo now and have had a few other people take it out for spin, and feel I gave it a good test and here is what I have found out.

First, its amazing how many things you'll use this bike for. I'm sure when you're thinking of buying one you will ask yourself "how much will I really use it?". Well I'm here to say a lot!

Its great to be able to haul whatever you need. I have used it to haul signs for our pedicabs, a andirodek chair, another bicycle, and of course a person or two, and with the addition of the Go Getter pannier, you can carry just about anything.

Everyone who rides this bike loves how easy it is to ride, and with the Schwalbe Big Apples it’s a very smooth riding bike. The frame is a good size for most- I'm on the tall side and I felt I was pushing the limits of the seat post.

The bike I had has 21 speeds. I know they make a 6 and single speed. I'm sure they would be fine, but I really like the gears. The one thing I feel they could maybe do is put a set 175 cranks on it. I feel the extra length would be nice when carrying larger loads, the down side of that is the cranks would bottom out pretty easy because of the lower bottom bracket, so maybe that’s why they didn’t use 175s.

The rack on the back is very well built and I'm sure can handle the 450lbs the bike is rated at no problem. One thing to think about before getting one is where you live- trust me, carrying this bike up two flights of steps is not easy. If I was going to keep it, I would for sure need a garage or a first level apartment- that’s for sure.
