Those of you who follow our blog regularly might know that I really like photography. Thanks to a very generous girlfriend, I have acquired a nice dslr. With my track record of destroying cameras while biking, I was looking for a way to carry a full size dslr without a mass amount of vibrations to the camera.

I know companies like Crumpler make camera bags, but they all seem really big. Tamrac sent along their Velocity 7 that was recommended by an employee who also rides with his camera. I loaded it up and really like it.

What I was dreaming of was a bag just big enough for my camera, but having this one is nice. It's great to have a little extra space to carry a few lenses.

On a regular, every day ride I only take the lens that's on my camera, but when I went to shoot the cyclocross race I brought a zoom lens, an extra battery, and still had room for another lens and some Clif Bars.

The bag also has a strap to work with Tamrac's Modular Accessory Systems, so if you have a lens that is too big the fit inside you can connect it to the outside. My camera fits nice with a 28-75 2.8 lens attached. The top load lets you stop, swing the bag around, and pull out your camera quick.

The material seems waterproof and I'm sure would hold up to moderate rain for reasonable amount of time. The sling design makes it great for that quick swing around for quick access, and the stabilizer strap works ok. I'm used to a better than average stabilizing system from using messenger bags, but the waist strap works.

The bag is comfortable as I ride, and because of the smaller size it doesn’t get too hot on my back.  I'm happy with this bag as a solution for carrying my camera on everyday stuff, both on and off the bike. I can't really see a better solution.

That being said, I'm still thinking that Ortlieb's handle bar bag would be the way to go while touring because you would not want to have this on your back all day.
