The Wildman over at SE Bikes sent me a press release about Flick Trix releasing a P.K. Ripper model, and Todd was kind enough to send one out to me before he left for a trip to China & parts unknown!
In case you don't know, Flick Trix are making working model replicas of the best bmx bikes of yesteryear, as well as new school models from the likes of S & M, FIT, and more! I believe something similar was made a few years back, but not sure by who, when, or just exactly what- but these are like the little skateboard models that are out, except finally they're bikes!
These come with a little wrench/screwdriver, another wrench, and are fully adjustable- from the height of the seat to the angle of the handlebars, the pedals, cranks, wheels- everything. They even have working front & rear brakes!!! As soon as I figured that out I was doing endo's & cherry picker's in a minute!
It comes put together with spoke wheels, but if you remember these from back in the day, they also come with a set of Skyway Tuff Wheels- the mag wheels of choice in the early 80's! And you know they wouldn't be included if they weren't interchangeable! Also included is a "trick" handlebar, and a bike stand for display, not to mention remake SE & Skyway stickers of the day!
Totally rad and fun to play around with when you- I mean I should probably be working...
On the back of the package, there are four other bikes shown: Mongoose's Supergoose from '82, Hutch's Trickstar from '84, and 2 different GT Pro Performers from '85- 1 with spoke wheels, one with mag wheels. (Collect them all!!!) Not sure if any of the other one's come with dual wheel sets or not.
I remember all of these bikes like it was yesterday... At one time I owned a P.K. Ripper and a GT Pro Performer- both stolen...and it still hurts. It won't ever go away, but these help a little bit. Plus they're fun to play with- no matter what your age! If you don't have a kid and are over 30, when's the last time you took a stroll through the toy aisles (sans video games!), take a few minutes and check it out- you might be pleasantly surprised!
