Update- 10.11.2007: Ok- when I wrote the original review for these pants I had been riding them for a few weeks. now, after having rode them all summer I have a new take on them. I really like these pants-they're my favorite of the bunch.
They just fit so well and work really well- they keep you cool and look cool. When these wear out i'm going to put up the cash for another pair for sure. -cole.
This is my first review for a pair of pants. I'm a “cut off a pair of BDU's and call it good” type of guy. I started a job here in Chicago riding a pedicab, so I sit in the saddle a lot and the BDU's were getting hot and uncomfortable, so I thought I should give some ¾ pants a try.
Portland cycle put together a good pant. First and foremost, they're comfy. The four-way stretch material is really nice and it repels water well; however, they are not waterproof. I had my cell phone in the cell phone pocket during a down pour and I ending up needing a new phone. Not the fault of the pants- I should have known better. They also dry faster than any other pants I have ever worn- after the down pour they were dry in no time. The fit is a little bit tighter than I normally go for, but I seem to be getting bigger tips from the ladies, so I'll take it. I like the reflective material they put on the back pockets, and the leg straps are always a plus.
Now for a few things I didn't like: the pad that came in them was soft, but real wide. It rubbed the inside of my legs so bad I ending up cutting the whole thing out. Maybe it's just me, but I felt better after that- no more rubbing. The next thing was the zipper pockets. The zipper broke on day two- granted; I was zipping and unzipping it all night, putting my tips in it, but I still feel it should have lasted longer.
Overall I like the pants. I think Portland cycle wear did a nice job, and if you looking for a comfy pant that looks nice, I would buy a pair. |
