a while back tony, at iro, starting offering a new wheel set. everyone on bikeforums.net was discussing them, all the pros and cons. to up the ante that had been leveled toward the criticism tony trumped everyone by putting up a post offering to send a set to anyone who wants to try them out. i emailed him saying that i'd like to check them out, two days later i had wheel set. i rode them for two weeks and heres what i've got: they're not quite a deep v, but they're deeper than the areoheads. they were pretty strong - i hit some pot holes, dropped off some curbs and took a short cut through some dude's lawn. over all i liked them. they not only looked cool but they rode really nice too. and once again, for the price that tony sells them for you cant beat it. derek also has a set on his new...well, now broken in jamie roy, and he'll do a review for that right. . . .
. . .now! hey, i don't even know what the name of this wheel set, or if it has a name, but they came stock on the jamie roy that i bought last year. like cole said, they're not quite a deep v. i get asked quite a bit if i'm riding deep v's and i just tell people that i am because it's easier than explaining that i don't feel the need to own deep v's to be secure with my street credit (or apparent lack thereof). i've ridden these wheels down plenty of stairways, off curb cuts, through all kinds of snow, slush, sleet and rain. they've been through sand, mud, grass. i took them out on the lake this winter and bumped around through all the ice fisherman's sled ruts. i've dropped off things that i shouldn't have on a jamie roy and they've been awesome. the hubs are in tact, no bent axles, no thrown spokes, no need to retrue (so far). i love them, to be honest. black on black is sexy, as far as i'm concerned - so the set i've got looks good to boot. two thumbs way the hell up.
