The Breezer Finesse is a very well designed bicycle and a complete pleasure to ride. It features so very many thoughtful and high-quality elements that it’s hard to know where to start my praise.
The Finesse is among the most comfortable bikes I have ever ridden. The carbon fiber seat post and fork absorb the shock of poor roads and potholes, while the Velo Plush seat provides a comfortable cushion on multi-mile rides. Even the grips are ergonomically advanced, with a soft triangular pad to rest the base of my hands on.
The internal gear hub and the generator-powered headlight have to be two of the smartest components I have ever ridden with. The Shimano hub houses 8 gears that go from high to low with a click of the index finger, and from low to high with the press of a thumb. The gears can be changed while standing still, making it easier to take off again after a full stop. The headlight is so bright and far-reaching that I would compare it more to the headlight of a car than to any other bicycle headlight I’ve ever seen. It provided plentiful illumination for myself and a friend on a late night ride down completely unlit country roads, and makes me feel safely visible to cars.
The hydraulic brakes also contribute to the bike’s safety. They are incredibly responsive to the touch, and stop the bike so quickly that it took me some getting used to.
In addition to all the thoughtfully chosen components, the look of the Finesse is just straight up beautiful. The butted frame is sleek and elegant, while the blue and silver paint job is timeless and classy.
My biggest complaint about the Finesse is the kickstand, which is either too flimsy or too poorly balanced to support the bike (especially if there’s any weight at all on the rack). It’s definitely the Achilles’ heel of an otherwise amazing design; but, still, if my biggest gripe is with the kickstand, I can live with it.
