If you remember awhile back Bern sent me a Brentwood helmet to protect my poor melon that I kept knocking senseless, which I'm still grateful for, and wouldn't it figure that I haven't bashed my melon once since (not to say I haven't landed flat on my ass...but isn't that the way things work? Better safe than sorry.

Bern is brilliant having interchangeable snap-in liners, and the 8-Tracks model is even a step up with built in earphones! How fresh is that!

The winter model will keep your head warm all cold-season long! It fully covers your head, helping block the vents a little while still letting them perform. You do lose the bill cap when switching out, but I can deal with that- It's the cold that my body isn't so fond of these days, which won't be as much of a problem anymore- at least not this season! There's also models with big fuzzy fold-up bills too!

Super beefy warm padding that even drops down and covers your neck! How's that for keeping you covered?
What other lid offers that much protection, warmth, and audio?

Yeah- that's exactly what I thought- nobody. Bern does it again!!!

I also thought of a rad idea for when I got to Chicago today, and it worked! Instead of hooking the *-tracks liner up to my ipod, I plugged it into my phone- no, there's no microphone or anything like that- I talked AT&T into comping me an unlimited data plan along with GPS! I told it where I wanted to go and listened to the directions coming through my helmet! No phone to have in hand to drop- strictly audio...and it worked like a charm!!! Since the speakers aren't noise-blocking ear buds, you can still hear traffic fine.

If you don't have a helmet, I highly recommend Bern. Helmets should also be replaced every couple years (or so I've heard), and the summer/winter upgrades Bern has to offer are totally worth it.
