IRO ANGUS- first impressions:
IRO sent their Angus model in for us to review, and i just wanted to give you a little background informations as well as my first thoughts.
IRO is a total family venture, which i think is pretty rad! everyone has their hands in some aspect of the company, and their products are made right here in the US! a great little company that's quickly gaining ground.
honestly, i wrote them to find out what the hype is all about- i have a good handful of friends that ride IRO bikes, and they're die hard in love with them. they always seemed to look pretty decent, although i never personally got the chance to ride one, but needless to say, a few of those friends won't shut up about it, and it was starting to get the better of me- i really had to know!
if you visit IRO's website, every bike is custom built for each person, with an estimated time of 2 weeks, which is pretty quick if you ask me. for review purposes, they only send out stock models, which is fine by me.
so after a few emails, a few days later it shows up, and i gotta say that i'm pretty impressed. stock, the Angus comes black with silver/chrome components and looks smooth as silk. nah, this ain't no kessler's ad. me & whisky don't mix too well. but it's that smooth. a couple days later we had a thaw, the roads dried up, and i got to go for a few rides before switching back to the wet bike. good times indeed. it rides as smooth as it looks. although i'm not a huge fan of drop bars, i can get by with them for the time being. a very minor complaint. the one i got runs 45/15 on a size 56 frame- basically the exact same set up on my other bike, so there was really no getting used to it- it was already built to my size. perfect. so needless to say, i'm anxiously waiting for the snow to melt so i can get this baby back out on the road!
