a while back kendra wrote us a letter. let me take a second to repeat that; a while back kendra wrote us a letter. yeah, a hand written letter. that, in and of itself, is beyond awesome - to me. kendra's keeping it real. she's not buying into all the hype. i haven't had the privilege of meeting kendra in person yet, so i can only imagine here, but i'm banking on the fact that you probably won't see kendra in the chain store coffee shop isolated by her ipod headphones and her macbook pro (i had to look that one up). in her letter she wrote about the inhospitable cycling situations she faced and what she was doing to help further the cycling cause. in trading correspondence we found out that she knits bar covers for her bikes, as a hobby. not only are we fascinated by those who have chosen to disregard automobiles as their sole means of transportation, but we also love people that have bicycle-positive hobbies. we struck up a deal with kendra to make some bar pads and let us distribute them to you through our website. pardon my potty mouth, but these bar pads are the shit. i've just been tying bandannas around my top tube, but that'll all change now. kendra not only made some sweet bar pads, but she was able to work some different designs into each one. when you order one of these you get the pad, extra yarn to sew it onto your top tube, a plastic needle to do the work, a little photocopy of the directions and a handmade tag. you'll notice that the tag reads "ride bikes". that's the name she's given to this little project of hers. i think it says it all in the simplest terms possible. who needs more of the inflated sales pitches that we're faced with everyday out there in the real world? i don't. ride bikes.
